The MIA Foundation is dedicated to offering support, solace, and empowerment to parents who have experienced the profound loss of their children, while also addressing the critical issue of mental health, gun violence, and financial hardships within families. Our multifaceted approach will encompass resources in the areas of grief counseling, funeral assistance, burial assistance, domestic violence
education and support services for victims.
The MIA Foundation’s mission is to provide unwavering support to parents navigating emotional
aftermath of losing their children, while healing through education, empowerment, and comprehensive
services.
Kristal Coleman - The Founder
Kristal Coleman, a mother who tragically lost her daughter Mia a year ago, has become an inspiring figure for parents enduring the heartache of losing a child. In her grief journey, Kristal found the strength to reach out and support others facing unimaginable pain.
Driven by her determination to make a difference, Kristal founded the M.I.A Foundation Mission in Agape is a nonprofit organization that assists grieving parents. The foundation provides solace and resources to parents and is crucial in raising awareness of issues like gun violence and domestic violence, striving to create safer communities for families.
An upcoming Gala organized by the foundation aims to raise funds and awareness for their cause. Kristal's resilience and compassion exemplify how personal tragedy can be transformed into a force for positive change, as she honors Mia's memory while working tirelessly to help parents navigate the difficult path of loss and address pressing societal issues.

2. Funeral Assistance for Families: By easing the financial burden of funeral expenses, we allow families to honor their children’s lives without the added stress of financial hardship.

4. Domestic Violence Education: Through workshops and awareness campaigns, we educate parents about the signs of domestic violence, helping them safeguard their families.
5. Support Services for Victims: Our comprehensive support services encompass counseling, crisis intervention, emergency housing, and resources to empower victims to break free from abusive situations.

HHARP - Bereavement Assistance
The Helping Hand Asset Relief Program offers financial funeral and burial assistance to those facing financial hardship, including indigent individuals, women, children, the disabled, and the unemployed. We bridge the gap by providing support for outstanding funeral and burial expenses when funds are available.

The YWCA empowers domestic violence survivors to take control of their lives while offering them safety and the resources to ensure their self-sufficiency. Domestic violence is any pattern of behaviors that attempts to control and intimidate a partner or family member through fear, manipulation, isolation, financial abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or verbal abuse.

The Tamia Coleman Memorial Scholarship
Purpose - Through the establishment of this scholarship from The MIA Foundation, our goal is to provide a deserving student matriculating from Soulsville Charter School with the financial support they need to attend the University of Memphis and pursue their academic and professional goals. We believe that by investing in this student's education, we can make a significant impact not only on their individual future, but also on the communities they will serve as a result of their success. We hope that this scholarship will serve as a catalyst for positive change and inspire others to support education and opportunity for all.
Senator London Lamar currently serves Tennessee as chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and is the youngest female legislator in the Tennessee General Assembly. She is also the youngest African American to ever serve in the Tennessee State Senate. As the conscience of the legislature, Senator Lamar champions strong schools, healthy families, and safe neighborhoods. She has passed legislation that advances maternal health, human trafficking, criminal justice, and voting rights. As the Senator for Senate District 33, Senator Lamar holds membership to two Senate committees: Judiciary and Finance, Ways and Means. Senator Lamar is honored to have received recognition from over 10 organizations and to have appeared in three publications for her work that uplifts families and communities. Senator London Lamar will continue to advocate for her constituents, Tennesseans, and all Americans to ensure that they have choice-filled lives.

London Lamar is currently the State Senator for District 33. After being appointed by the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, she became the youngest female and African American legislator in Tennessee State Senate History.
